Intensity
Those that can remember will recognize the lack of intensity shown this year so far. If certain players are not doing it under a new manager from the get go then I can’t see how that will change with all the pressure that comes with the lack of points.
We haven’t got time to jell together and bed in players. I’m concerned.

Russ, I saw players that were told they must get back and help the defense and under no circumstances could they leave gaps between the defense and midfield that the opposition could exploit. They were drilled not to repeat the mistakes in the first 3 games. The players were then hesitant about getting forward and too slow and we lost what little treat we had on goal. We still did threaten, but no goals and they just looked slow and crap. But I do remember they were sweating and working their bollocks off. Then the late goal sealed a really crap slow, defense orientated performance.

Wasn't this the first thing Moyes addressed? That was the advantage of having Stuart Pearce on board, if he said run they would fucking run.

Re: Intensity
Fuck Off Antonio and Snodgrass as neither offer the link play our full backs need, Snodgrass is too slow to play the wing and can't beat the opposition player, Antonio doesn't have the guile to make space for himself or supply the pass on an overlap to the full back.

This makes our full backs look lost going forwards and wastes any pace they have.

Have Arthur in front of Cresswell, and Yarmolenko on the right as he may be able to track back and link up well with Fred.

Stop the fucking flicks because we have a Brazilian.

Mate, I watched the game. I just simply refuse to believe that top level players are deliberately not trying.

That's why I spoke about what I did. Because not knowing what the fuck you are meant to be doing on a football pitch can look like you don't give a fuck.

Do you seriously believe that players in the PL earning in excess of £50 - £60k per week are deliberately holding back for some reason?

I just can't see it and I don't see it. I see a group of players all struggling to settle and unsure of exactly how to beat their opponent.

trev, he's still the obvious one and arnie's body language improved as soon as he went off saturday. just him?

Russ of the BML ....I was referring to previous years when players looked like they were watching / walking through games.
The intensity and pace of teams in this years premier league is something I’ve not seen before. West Ham look way off the mark in a 90 min match. I take your point about being unsure of your role as a player and within the tactics....that’s why we bought Carroll as a back up.

Re: Intensity
We give the ball away too easily in dangerous areas and then struggle to get it back. The opposition no matter who they are always seem to have a man extra. This may be because they all play with more intensity than us. We have played like this since the start of Bilic's second season and spend 70% of most games chasing shadows trying to get the ball back. No wonder we always looked f@cked. It's worrying.

there's a couple of bad apples in that dressing room/squad and it can't be the new boys as it's been happening for consecutive seasons now. the question is, who?

We was intense and running fine against Arsenal the previous week.

Which makes the Wolves game baffling, to say the least.

`then he gave Arnautovic a chat`

... and then he tried.... just like he did after 81 mins on saturday.... tactics was nothing to do with it... that was pure and utter no effort on saturday... Shearer called it spot on

Re: Intensity
There is some truth in what Cascarino said recently about West Ham. Half the team can't run, and the other half doesn't want to run. If Pellegrini doesn't solve this problem, we might as well just give up.

Re: Intensity
Bilic used that expression last season he said the intensity isn’t there in training which was a staggering confession from a manager! We look the same now as we did then ; one of the first thing Moyes did was get people fitter, then he gave Arnautovic a chat and he was the cornerstone of our survival!

Looks like the same thing needs to happen let’s hope Pellegrini can do it!

Jokes aside. I have played football most of my life and there is nothing more physically crippling to play football when you have no clue what you are supposed to be doing.

I played under a manager who was a right bell-end but thought he was Beckenbauer. He introduced a lot of technical stuff and we really didn't have a clue. We were getting beat by lesser teams and I can recall how draining not understanding our system was.

Our captain was quite an outspoken fella and told him at half time in one game he was no longer manager. Bit of a bust up but manager eventually stormed off.

We won 7 of our last 9 games and came 4th.

So I don't believe its the players not trying. I just don't think they are really certain of what they should be doing.

Re: Intensity
mrmac, it seems to be a problem with successive managers and groups of players. even under moyes, there were a few games where they didn't look bothered. i think it's increasingly hard to motivate millionaire footballers who get paid no matter how bad they perform

Those that can remember??

We've only played four games. What do you think everyone has got dementia?
